Financial Controller

We are looking for someone with extensive finance experience, who is committed and driven and wants to join the ever-growing team at Bastion Collective Sydney.

Working at the Bastion Collective office in Surry Hills means working in a fun, fast-paced, challenging, friendly and constantly evolving office.

Bastion Collective is made up of nine communications agencies with expertise spread across government and community, sponsorship activation, events, strategy and integrated PR expertise, research, reputation management and TVC production.

We are a tight-knit, high performing, hands-on team who work together to produce the best results for our clients

As Financial Controller - Sydney, you will play a key role in supporting the Sydney businesses and report to the CFO - Australia.

We are looking for someone who is highly dynamic and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with strong financial and leadership skills. We are ideally looking for someone who possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, is CA/CPA qualified and has previous experience in an in-house finance role.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Partnering with the regional CEO to prepare operations analysis and reports
  • Ensure a timely and accurate month end closing process and the analysis of the monthly balance sheet and profit & loss figures
  • Identify performance trends
  • Assist in the budgeting and projection process for all revenue and expense streams, as well completing analysis of variances
  • Create and enact action plans that reduce or eliminate future variances
  • Cash flow management
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports as requested by the CFO and CEO
  • Build a solid working relationship with external accountants and other advisors
  • Project analysis
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by management

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • You are organised and love juggling multiple projects
  • You have exceptional interpersonal skills – and strong written and verbal communication
  • You are commercially minded and proactive
  • You love to work independently as well as in a team
  • You have a great attention to detail, displaying accuracy in daily work and projects
  • You have a strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new system functionality quickly
  • You have a strong desire to work within an Agency environment across multi-disciplines and clients
  • Ideally knowledgeable in Xero, Excel, Base, Keynote and Google platforms
  • You have a great attitude, you have a brilliant sense of humour, you love to work hard and you love to have fun
